Whenever two or more inches of snow accumulates on the roads, a snow emergency is declared.  When a snow emergency is declared:

WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  It becomes unlawful for any vehicles to be parked in any municipal parking lot or on any public street or road (with the following exceptions) between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  It is unlawful to park on the following Village streets between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM after two inches of snow have fallen in the past 24 hours:

WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  East State Street from Walnut Street to East Street
WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  Walnut Street from East State Street to Grove Street
WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  Cherry Street from East State Street to Elgin Street

WB00955_.GIF (255 bytes)  Any dwelling that does not have off street parking, may apply for a seasonal parking exemption with the Cherry Valley Police Department.

Any vehicle which is in violation of this ordinance is subject to fines, tickets and/or towing and all related expenses.  Depositing of snow on any street or alley is prohibited.  Also prohibited is depositing of snow so as to obstruct public sidewalks, neighboring parkways or other private properties.

Damaged Mail Boxes

Mailboxes that are damaged in the process of the snow removal operation will be repaired only if the face of the mail box is six (6) inches or more behind the back of the curb and the mailbox and/or post was hit by the snow removal equipment.  Damage done to a mailbox by snow being discharged from the plow or placement of a mailbox too close to the curb will be the responsibility of the home owner.  See the picture below for proper placement of a mailbox.
