Yes. If you are going to do any door to door sales in Cherry Valley you need to register and obtain a permit at the Village Hall at 806 East State Street. Photo ID is required and there is a fee.

Cherry Valley always holds the Fourth of July festivities on July 4th. The festivities start with a patriotic bike parade at 1:00 PM. Participants decorate their bicycles and themselves in red, white and blue regalia to celebrate this patriotic holiday. Prizes are awarded to the best decorations. Fireworks are displayed at Baumann Park at dusk (around 9:20 PM).

Yes! The Village wants to encourage the health and well being of all of its residents. It offers flu and pneumonia shots every October. There is a charge to the Winnebago County for this service. The shots are given at the village hall. Watch your local newspaper or call the village hall at (815) 332-3441 to confirm the date.
We suggest that you first try to talk to the offending pet owner one on one. Many pet owners are responsible people who do not mean to offend anyone. If, however, this mechanism has not worked, please contact the Cherry Valley Police Department for further remedies. They are available at (815) 332-3432.

Yes! Cherry Valley is very proud of its summer programs for the youth of the community. A park program is offered to the youth of Cherry Valley for 4 weeks during June and July of every summer. Village residents are placed first, with remaining spots going on a first come - first served basis. Please watch the Cherry Valley Village Newsletter for further details.
The Village does not levy a village property tax. If you live in the Village of Cherry Valley, you will receive a property tax bill. It will include taxes due for Winnebago County, Rockford School District 205, the Cherry Valley Library, the Cherry Valley Fire Protection District, the Rockford Park District (not all properties) and the Rockford Airport. However, Cherry Valley is able to support services such as policing and public works from the sales tax generated mostly by the CherryVale Mall. Additionally, you cannot pay your taxes at the village hall, you must go to the Winnebago County Treasurer's office.
Cherry Valley's primary source of revenue is a one percent (1%) sales tax placed on all retail sales within the Village limits. Currently, the Village receives around $2,500,000 a year from sales tax. Other revenue comes from the Cherry Valley Water Utility as well as other sources.

Mailboxes that are damaged in the process of the snow removal operations will be repaired only if the face of the mail box is six (6) inches or more behind the back of the curb and the mailbox and/or post was hit by the snow removal equipment. Damage done to a mailbox by snow being discharged from the plow or placement of a mailbox too close to the curb will be the responsibility of the home owner.
